Bengali film, television, and stage actor Pijush Ganguly, who met with an accident last week, passed away at a city hospital early today. Ganguly, 50, is survived by his wife and a son.”He died at 2.45 AM because of multi-organ failure and fat embolism in a case polytrauma after he met with a road accident on Tuesday,” said a senior official of the Belle Vue Clinic, where he had been admitted.
Pijush Ganguly started his career as an employee of NABARD but later moved on to pursue a career in acting. He started acting out of passion in the stages of Kolkata. He is actively involved with the Bengali Theatre scene and performs in various plays. He has worked with notable thespians such as Bratya Basu, Bibhas Chakraborty, Arun Mukherjee and Ramaprasad Banik among many. Some of his work includes Jestha Putra, Akarik, Madhav Malanchi Kanya, Jochhona Kumari, Virus M, Babli, 17 July, Mrityu-Ishwar-Jounota, Brain, Cinemar Moto, Surantar, Galileo Galilei, etc.
Pijush Ganguly was a well established and popular actor in the Bengali Television industry.
He had worked in lead roles in telefilms with pioneer directors such as Anjan Dutta, Kaushik Ganguly and also Tapan Sinha, Raja Dasgupta, Atanu Ghosh, Raja Sen, etc.
He was a well-known face in television serials over the last 20 years. He started his television career with Abar Jakher Dhan. Some of his popular TV serials are Janmabhumi, Sonar Horin, Megher Palok, Jol Nupur, Boyei Gelo, Chokher Tara Tui, Aanchol, etc. He hosted the reality show Ma vs Bouma.
He was also known to have an excellent voice for singing. He sung live on stage for many of his plays and had done the playback for many of his works.
